MEGA SOFT AND CHEWY NUTELLA COOKIES ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE CHOCOLATE COOKIE WITH A WHOLE CUP OF NUTELLA MIXED RIGHT INTO THE BATTER!ย ย
This Nutella Cookies recipe is completely customizable!ย Mix anything you want into the batter to create Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies for 4th of July or Andes Nutella Cookies for Christmas!ย ย
Nutella Cookies
Whether you loooooveย Nutella or are just a chocolate lover in general, you willย looooove this Nutella Cookie recipe! ย Honestly, I thought they were going to be good, but they are even better than I could have imagined. ย After Patrick sunk his teeth into our new obsession, his first words were, โAre you kidding me?!โย No, I would not kid about something as important as Nutella Cookies.ย Patrick, you might have finally found a cookie to rival your favorite Sโmores Cookies.
These Nutella Cookies are definitely making it onto my plate of Christmas neighbor/friend goodies this year. ย Do you have a tradition of holiday neighbor/friend cookie exchange? ย Every since I was a little girl, it has been a tradition to load up plates and plates of all our favorite Christmas treats and bring them to friends and neighbors. ย Making and sampling these cookies, bars and popcorn while singing along to the good olโ stuff like Bing Crosbyโs โWhite Christmas,โ ย โHave Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,โ by The Carpenters, โSilent Nightโby Ella Fitzgerald and many more are some of my most cherished memories.
My family never missed a year to spread this good cheer with Christmas plates loaded with Momโs Famous Mint Brownies, Rice Krispie Wreaths (with ornaments out of skittles and bows out of red vines), and Sugar Cookies, and now I have a new favorite to add to the list, these Nutella Cookies!
How do you make Nutella cookies?
- Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar together with a stand or hand held mixer on medium speed for 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating just until incorporated after each addition. Add Nutella and vanilla and beat to combine.ย
- Add flour mixture and stir with a wooden spoon just until combined. Add 1 cup desired Add-Ins and stir just until combined. Cover mixing bowl and chill dough in the refrigerator for 4 hours up to overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or nonstick mats.
- Scoop dough into heaping 2 tablespoon size balls and evenly space 6 balls per one cookie sheet. Bake each batch of cookies for 12-14 minutes or until edges are set and center look underdone. Let cookies cool completely on baking sheets.ย ย
How to Customize Nutella Cookies
To make these Nutella Cookies more โChristmasy,โ I like to add a cup of Andesโ Creme Baking Bits. ย It infuses them withย peppermint without tasting over the top or too much like a candy cane.ย Here are some more add-in ideas:
- Reeseโs Pieces (as pictured, my fav)
- chocolate chipis
- butterscotch chips
- toffee bits
- Andesโ Creme De Menthe Baking Bits Baking Chipsย (perfect for Christmas)
Another personal favorite of mine (and Patrickโs) is the Reeseโs Pieces made for ice cream (the orange yellow candies in the pics). ย They have a crunchy outside with chocolate inside that blends beautifully with the soft and chewy Nutella Cookies.
ย
Can I Freeze Nutella Cookies?
Yes!ย Both the nutella cookie dough and the baked Nutella Cookies can be frozen.
HOW TO FREEZE NUTELLA COOKIE DOUGH:
- Roll balls per instructions and fit as many as you can on a parchment/nonstick lined baking sheet without touching.
- Place the baking sheet in the freezer and freeze the balls untilย outsides are hard (about 1-2 hours).
- Transfer to a freezer size plastic bag and freeze.
- Nutella cookie dough should freeze well for up to 3 months.
- To BAKE:ย Place frozen cookie dough balls on a lined baking sheet and bake according to instructions, adding a couple extra minutes to cook time.
HOW TO FREEZE BAKED NUTELLA COOKIESย
- Fit as many COOLED baked Nutella Cookies on a parchment/nonstick mat lined baking sheet without touching.
- Place the baking sheet(s) in the freezer and freeze untilย solid (about 1 hour).
- Transfer to a freezer size plastic bag and freeze.
- To EAT:ย When you want to enjoy a Nutella Cookie, take it out and let it sit at room temperature, warm in the microwave at 10 second intervals or warm it in the oven for a few minutes.

And you canโt go wrong with these Nutella Cookies bursting with hazelnutย chocolate in every bite. ย Whether you make these cookies for Christmas or make them for a barbecue in July, I know you are going toย looooove these Customizable Nutella Cookies!
ย Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year with lots and lots of Nutella Cookies!

When you say bake six at a time does that mean six beach cookie sheet or only six in the oven at one time? By the way you are my fave site. I grew up in Coronado and all your Mexican recipes have hit home plus the peanut butter sauces!
Jen says
Hi Sean, thank you so much for your kind words, that mean so much to me! I just made Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce this week and sharing it next week โ think you will love it as it sounds like we share the same love affair with peanut sauce! I LOVE Coronado โ go there quite a bit, best place to ride bikes with the beautiful homes โ and its all flat ๐ In this recipe, it means only 6 cookies per cookie sheet as they spread out quite a bit when baked :). Hope you love them, Merry Christmas!
