These Soft and Chewy Sโmores Cookies are chewy graham cracker cookies nestled with gooey chocolate and slightly toasted marshmallows.
These Sโmores Cookies are my husbands FAVORITE COOKIE that will leaving you wanting sโmore!!!ย I originally made thisย Sโmore Cookie recipe years ago because Patrick loves sโmores so much. ย ย He fell in love and I have been making them ever since.

Sโmores Cookies Recipe
Patrick and I love having beach bonfires. ย We have a huge fire pit that Patrickโs brother welded a stand for, so we simply plop it anywhere on the beach and get the fire blazing.
Friends will be surfing, paddle boarding, chasing kids, making sand castles, etc., but when the sโmores fixinโs come out, everyone gathers around because thereโs something magical about toasted, gooey marshmallows and melted chocolate sandwiched between graham crackers that always leaves you wanting sโmoreโฆ
But now you can bring Americaโs favorite campfire treat to your very own kitchen table with these Sโmores Cookies! Patrick loves these Sโmores Cookies so much that I made his favorite cookie for my favorite Valentine last week.
He liked it ๐
And so will you! ย Soft, chewy, graham cracker cookies nestled with gooey chocolate and slightly toasted marshmallowsโฆ
Yeah, you might want to double or triple the recipe, even fill a jar in the kitchen, keep a stash inย your purse, or your car, or into your closet because you never know when you will want sโmore Sโmore Cookies, which I can pretty much guarantee will be all the time!

Sโmores Cookies Ingredients
These chocolate chip marshmallow cookies are similar to your classic chocolate chip cookie recipe, but with a few extra special additions.
- Butter: ย Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature so it can easily be creamed together with the egg and sugars.
- Granulated sugar: Sweetens these cookies.
- Brown sugar: Makes for a slightly chewier cookie.
- Egg: Helps bind everything together.
- Vanilla extract: Use pure vanilla extract for the best flavor.
- All-purpose flour: I have not experimented with other types of flour but I suspect gluten free baking flour or white whole wheat flour would also work.
- Graham cracker crumbs: You can buy graham cracker crumbs at the grocery store, or you can make them yourself by pulsing whole graham crackers in a food processor.
- Salt: Balances out the sweetness from the sugar, chocolate, and marshmallows.
- Baking soda: Helps the cookies rise.
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips: Iโm sure you could use different chocolate chip flavors, if desired.
- Hersheyโs chocolate bars: Yes, I added chopped up Hersheyโs bars too. Whatโs a sโmores without Hersheyโs?
- Mini marshmallows: Donโt use regular marshmallows, as theyโre far too large to fit in these cookies.
Can I Use a Graham Cracker Substitute?
If you canโt find American graham crackers where you live, try crushing up another mildly sweet, neutral flavored biscuit (like digestive biscuits or something similar).

How to Make Sโmores Cookies
This sโmores dessert is easy to whip up at a momentโs notice since the cookie dough doesnโt need to be chilled.
- Cream together the butter and sugars, then mix in the egg and vanilla.
- Add in the flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking soda and salt. Mix until smooth.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chocolate chunks until well combined.
- Drop by heaping tablespoons onto cookie sheet.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes.
- Remove and quickly press marshmallows into cookies.
- Return to oven and cook until done, about 3-4 minutes.

Sโmores Cookie Recipe Tips
- If you canโt find Hersheyโs chocolate where you live, use extra chocolate chips in the cookie dough.
- Add the marshmallows to the cookies in the last few minutes of baking so they brown but donโt turn into puddles.
- If you only have regular-sized marshmallows at home, cut them up into bite-sized pieces before pressing them into the cookies.
Sโmores Cookies Variations to Try
If you add different mix-ins to these chocolate chip marshmallow cookies, you wonโt wind up with authentic tasting sโmores cookies. But who cares?!
- Add nuts: Youโre welcome to add chopped nuts to the cookie dough.
- Use flavored marshmallows: Marshmallows come in all sorts of flavors these days. Play around with them to see which you like best!
- Use different baking chips: I stuck to the classic sโmores flavors and used semi-sweet chocolate chips. But you could also use milk or dark chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and so on.

How to Store Sโmores Cookies
These chocolate chip marshmallow cookies can be stored in an airtight container for 5-7 days. Note that the marshmallows on top will harden over time.
How to Freeze Sโmores Cookie Dough
- Form cookie dough balls as instructed.
- Fit as many dough balls as you can on a parchment/nonstick lined baking sheet without touching.
- Place the baking sheet in the freezer and freeze the balls untilย outsides are hard (about 1-2 hours).
- Transfer to a freezer bag and freeze.
- To bake:ย Place frozen cookie dough balls on a lined baking sheet and bake according to instructions, adding a couple extra minutes to cook time.
How to Freeze Baked Sโmores Cookies
- Fit as many COOLED sโmores cookies on a parchment/nonstick mat lined baking sheet without touching.
- Place the baking sheet(s) in the freezer and freeze untilย solid (about 1 hour).
- Transfer to a freezer size plastic bag and freeze.
- To eat:ย When you want to enjoy a sโmores cookie, take it out and let it sit at room temperature, warm in the microwave at 10 second intervals, or warm it in the oven for a few minutes.

Please forgive me if Iโm missing something, but when you say โ1/2 packed brown sugar,โ do you mean 1/2CUP?
Holland says
Made these yesterday and loved them! Love the texture of the graham crackers and loading them up with marshmallows. Mmmmmmm ๐
Jen says
So happy you loved them Mike and that you were liberal in your marshmallows :)! Canโt get much better than sโmore cookies!
Michele says
Hi! When you made it in the heat shape how long did you bake it for? Iโve made it as the cookies and I love love love this recipe! Little lazy to make cookies and pouring into pan is easie ๐ thanks!
Jen says
Hi Michele, I am so sorry, but it was too long ago that I just donโt remember! I think if you keep an eye on the pan, when the cookies starts to turn golden on top, you should be pretty close to being done. Sorry to be of no help whatsoever! I am so happy you love the recipe though!
Nichole says
I made these and my marshmallows dissolved instead of holding their shape and my cookies turned out more flat than what is pictured in the recipe. They were still yummy but it just reminded me of a normal chocolate chip cookie. Any suggestions on what I may have done wrong?
Jen says
Hi Nichole, I am not sure what to tell you about the marshmallows dissolving, as I have never heard of that before. Did you add them at the end and only bake for 3 minutes? Were they new marshmallows? As far as the cookies turning out flat, it could either be the butter was too soft, or creamed too long. Hope you have better luck next time!
Natalie @ In Natalie's Shoes says
I make some sโmore brownies that are always a hit, but these cookies sound like they could upstage the brownies! Thanks for sharing!
Jen says
You are so welcome Natalie, hope you love them! Your brownies sound amazing as well! Itโs hard to beat sโmores!
Mrs. Gamgee says
Hi, just wanted to drop you a note to say thanks for posting this recipe. Itโs awesome! Just made a double batch to take to a family reunion/campout. We likely wonโt be able to have a campfire due to the drought conditions, but we can still have smores!
Jen says
Thank YOU for being kind enough to drop I note! I am so glad you love this recipe and what a fun idea to take them to a campfire โ everyone will love you that much more for it! ๐
Bigguy555 says
this is a stupid question i know but i got to know is it the big bar of hershey or the normal one?
Jen says
Hi Nathan, not a stupid question at all! The regular size Hersheyโs bar โ 1.5 oz. Enjoy!
Angela says
Made these yesterday. They were very popular! One thing thoughโฆ how come the marshmallows in the picture look perfect? Mine melted all over the place. They still tasted amazing! I also added 1/2 c less chocolate chips because I was worried theyโd be too chocolatey. Great recipe!
Jen says
Hi Angela, so sorry for my delayed response Shannon, I have been super behind with all the holidays. I am so happy these were a hit! As far as the marshmallows go, I am not sure why yours melted all over the place, this has never happened to me. I wonder if its a brand of marshmallow thing? You could place your marshmallows in when the cookies are almost baked and then finish baking. That should solve it โ but the melty marshmallows kind of sound better ๐
Bushra says
I had to reply because of my 5 year olds reaction last night when I made him these cookies. โMom youโre amazing, these are the best cookies in the whole world, Iโm going to buy you a gift, no wait Iโm just going to give you lots of $$โ hahhahahahahhaha I was dying of laughter. Iโve never gotten so many hugs in a 5 minute time span than I did after serving these cookies!
Jen says
oh my goodness that is adorable! Thanks for sharing, you totally made my day! What a sweetheart! Iโm thrilled these were such a hit and apparently earned you lots of $$ :)!!!
samantha says
These are so good! I made these the other day and everybody loved them.
Jen says
Awesome Samantha! Iโm so happy they were a hit!
dan says
These are SO GOOD
Jen says
Awesome, thanks Dan!
Dayna says
Can I use self risning flour instead of using all purpose flour, salt, and baking soda?
Jen says
Hi Dayna, in theory it should work but I have never personally tried it so I canโt say yes with full confidence. If you end up trying it please let me know. Best of luck!
Dawn says
I make these cookies into a big cookie bar at work,( Residential Alzheimerโs Unit). Iโve been told they are sinful, evil and should be illegal. Thanks for sharing.
Jen says
What a fun idea to make a cookie bar! Iโm thrilled they were a hit!

OMG, these are fabulous, Jen! My 3-year old grandson just discovered SโMores so I made your recipe today to take to him in Boston this week. Iโm not sure how may will be left, though, as Mr. Fussy and I love them too! Definitely making these again and posting to FB to share.
Jen says
I love the thought of discovering sโmores for the first time โ magic! What a fun and thoughtful grandma you are to make sโmores cookies for him! Iโm so happy you both loved them too!
Gladys Hammen says
These are amazing!!
Thanks!
Jen says
Iโm so happy you loved them Gladys!
Kelsy McCoy says
Tasty cookies- but I wouldnโt call them SMORE cookies. Iโd call them jazed up chocolate chip cookies. Tasty, but if youโre looking for a good sโmore flavor then maybe more milk chocolate and Graham crackers and less chocolate chips.
Jen says
Iโm so happy you enjoyed the cookies Kelsy, thanks for the feedback!
Blessedishe.org says
One of the most delicious cookies Iโve ever eaten. It is SO SO GOOOOD. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
